Ajayi Dance LLC is a project driven dance company based in Shaker Heights, Ohio with a goal to create dance that inspires and deepens a sense of connection to self, others, community, and the world around us.

With a focus on "process" not "product," this is a low-pressure, safe environment to experiment and play. A great opportunity to connect with other artists, try new ways of creating, or offer assistance to another artist's process. What actually happens at inFORMal? Well--It is up to you! Sometimes people move. Sometimes people write. Sometimes everyone works individually. Sometimes people teach a phrase and ask for feedback. Sometimes people bring a group and have a rehearsal. Sometimes people plan upcoming classes. Sometimes there is a prompt to explore. And sometimes we sit and talk about an idea. Many of the ideas explored during inFORMal never leave the studio, and although some of the wackiest ones actually do (see photo above)... The purpose of inFORMal really is to practice creating and to sharpen our creative tools.
What happens when you combine a group of movement artists in a space with no expectations? Let's find out during this fun experiment!

Ajayi Dance will host 12 total hours of studio space for a group of 5-7 artists to come together with zero ideas and zero expectations. With the potential for something magical, but no worries if nothing happens! The group will mutually decide what becomes of the resulting work. At the very least, it is an opportunity to practice creating in a supportive collaborative environment.
First come first served
In the interest of the group, priority will be given to participants attending all 3 sessions.
